This week’s #PrescribingTips

“When prescribing metronidazole tablets take care to carefully calculate the number of whole tablets and/or portions to avoid potentially neurotoxic doses.”

What else we have been up to this week:

  • Working on the up-coming module on grapiprant

The first draft has been written and it's on circulation to our veterinary consultants, topic specialists and pharmaceutical companies.

  • Verification of the draft module on environmental flea sprays

This draft module has been peer-reviewed and revised, and so is ready for verification. This involves one of our editorial team checking the facts against the cited references.

  • Updated our unique Parasiticide Guide

  • Brushed up our literature searching skills through an online workshop with RCVS Knowledge Library

  • Working hard to promote and publicise our module on metronidazole neurotoxicity

  • Working with CAM arthritis to develop a review of CBD (cannabidiol).

  • Contacting potential collaborating authors for our 2019 modules

  • Working hard to refine our message and develop our social media presence (phew..that's quite difficult).

Our purpose...

...is to provide vets with high-quality, independent, comparative information they won't find elsewhere. However, it costs money to do this. We are a small, self-funded company of two dedicated full-timers (Andrea Tarr and Carl Russell), together with a team of regular and occasional writers, editors, reviewers, verifiers and proofreaders, who support our rigorous editorial process. We are absolutely passionate about independent information and empowering vets by giving them what they need to make rational decisions about medicines. Buying a subscription supports independent information you can trust. If you are getting free information ask yourself who is paying for it and why!
