Introduction to veterinary medicines certificate

 
 

The introduction to veterinary medicines is essential for anyone in the practice who has any dealings with medicines. It consists of three modules:

    Time to complete: around 1 hour 30 minutes.

You can read the modules, or read and listen, or download a podcast. At the end of each module there is a quiz, and a certificate is awarded for each module. Each module takes around 30 minutes to complete. When you have completed the first module, go on to the second and then the third. We hope you enjoy the modules. Foundation certificate in veterinary medicines

The Foundation certificate in veterinary medicines is suitable for clinical and non-clinical staff (including veterinary nurses, dispensers, practice managers, SQPs), it is particularly suitable for anyone involved in dispensing medicines. The Foundation certificate is made up of the three units (F1, F2 and F3). Below is a list of the modules in each unit. Click on the unit title to access the modules. Unit 1: Foundation in veterinary medicines regulations:

 Unit 3: Foundation in companion animal parasiticides

  • Worming kittens (F3MOD1)

  • Worming puppies (F3MOD2)

  • Parasite protection for adult cats (F3MOD3)

  • Parasite protection for adult dogs (F3MOD4)

  • Environmental flea sprays (F3MOD4)

  • Safe use of collars and spot-ons (F3MOD5)

  • Practical tips for preventing internal parasite infections in cats and dogs (F3MOD6)

  • Imported pets (F3MOD7)

  • Taking pets abroad (F3MOD8)

  • Using the Parasiticide Guide.

    Time to complete: around 2 hours 30 minutes

At the end of each module there is a quiz, and a certificate is awarded for each module. Completion of all the modules in the Foundation units leads to the Foundation Certificate.

Enhanced certificate in veterinary medicines

The enhanced certificate in veterinary medicines is suitable for developing medicines knowledge for use in practice, for instance for RVNs who are running a parasite control clinic. The Enhanced certificate is made up of the three Foundation (F1, F2 and F3) plus two further Enhanced Units (E1 and E2). Click on the title to access the unit modules. Unit 1: Enhanced certificate in companion animal parasiticides:
