Oclacitinib: a new treatment for itchy dogs
Earlier this year, oclacitinib became available as a completely new treatment for pruritus in dogs with allergic or atopic dermatitis. In this article, we examine the evidence on efficacy and safety of oclacitinib, including how it compares with standard therapies.
The first draft of the article was prepared in collaboration with a specialist in veterinary dermatology. The draft was circulated to practising vets and the companies that market products mentioned. Critical appraisal of evidence, incorporation of comments, and careful checking followed, to produce impartial information that is useful in clinical practice.
